Mike Seeger

Mike is the brother of five string banjo pioneer Pete Seeger. Mike is a proponent of ALL old time banjo styles and can play them all. He has recorded several projects for Smithsonian Folkways that are available on CD. They are a "must have" for anyone interested in the way the banjo was played in the old days. Most of the cuts are performed by the original proponents of the respective styles.

Mike shown with his custom 3/4 inch wide, elk skin lined Dogwood Design strap on a 1905 Fairbanks Whyte Laydie No. 7.  Oh yeah, the big guy next to him is the renowned Jim Pankey, the 1999 Georgia state old time banjo champion.
